Personal

Bio

I'm a software engineer, endurance athlete, investor, and reader — originally from Mangalore, India, now based in Bangkok.

I started writing code in 2014 at Robosoft Technologies in Udupi, where I spent four years building client products across the stack. In January 2019 I joined Agoda in Bangkok, where I'm now a Staff Software Engineer on the post-booking(CEG) platform. I was part of the founding team that built the modern back-office (React + Scala Play) — primarily on the UI — now used daily by ~2,000 customer experience agents. I also work across a set of Scala and Kotlin microservices serving ~2.5M post-booking(CEG) requests per day for Agoda's flight and accommodation products. Most recently I led the design and build of a Kafka-based reminder system that delivers ~20K notifications a day to agents, customers, and suppliers. I'm an individual contributor inside a tech org of roughly 500 engineers.

Outside work, running has become a serious pursuit. I've completed ten half marathons and two 50k ultra trails — the first in December 2025, the second in May 2026. This year I'm targeting a 100k along with a few more 50ks.

Technical

Skills

Over 10 years of professional experience, with the center of gravity shifting from frontend in the early years to backend systems today.

Frontend (2014–2020)

Lead UI developer on t2online.in, a celebrity and entertainment news portal (AngularJS), and McDonald's India ordering site (Angular) — both at Robosoft. At Agoda, part of the founding team that built the React + Scala Play back-office now used daily by ~2,000 customer experience agents.

Backend (2020–present)

Scala and Kotlin microservices powering post-booking flows for Agoda's flight and accommodation products — together serving ~2.5M requests a day. Most recently led the design and build of a Kafka-based reminder system delivering ~20K notifications a day to agents, customers, and suppliers.

Running & Ultras

Running is where I push my limits. I've completed ten half marathons and, in December 2025, crossed the finish line of my first 50k ultra trail. The plan for 2026 is bigger — a 100k ultra and a handful more 50ks. The distance is the point.

CrossFit

I switched from the gym to CrossFit in 2024 and it's been the best training decision I've made. The variety, intensity, and community keep me consistent. I complement it with swimming and the occasional game of tennis.

Hiking & Trekking

I've trekked the Annapurna Base Camp and Langtang Valley routes in Nepal. Everest Base Camp is next — it's been on the list long enough.

Reading & Investing

Reading

I read exclusively non-fiction — history, business, self-help, and health are my go-to genres. Recent reads include The New Map by Daniel Yergin, Endure by Alex Hutchinson, and The Art of Thinking Clearly by Rolf Dobelli. Currently working through Younger for Longer.

Investing

I started saving the day I got my first paycheck in 2014 — PPF and bank deposits first, then mutual funds, then direct equities. By 2018 I was picking individual stocks on Zerodha in the Indian market. In 2022 I expanded to the US via FirstTrade, and more recently to European markets as well. Weekends are usually spent reading annual reports, following business news, and thinking about long-term positions.
